TEXAS EXPUNCTION LAW - HOW TO CLEAR YOUR CRIMINAL ARREST RECORD |
| Driving While License Invalid (DWLI) |
Expunction, NonDisclosure, Juvenile Sealing, & Governor's Pardons.
Question: What is the best way to have a criminal offense cleared from my record?
Answer: There are several ways to clear your record in Texas, each specific to certain circumstances of the offense and how the case was handled.
-
Expunction is where your record is wiped clean, legally erasing any trace of the offense.
-
Motion for Non Disclosure is where the criminal record is effectivly sealed to the public, yet traces of documentation remain, to be used in certain restricted instances.
-
Juvenile Sealing of Records is where records of an offense committed while the person was under 18 years of age can be sealed from view.
-
Governor's Pardon, and in some instances, a Presidential Pardon, is where the government elects to reverse a conviction or commute a sentence. Once the offense is pardoned, it may be expunged.
